Influence of Government Subsidy on Students’ Enrollment in Public Secondary Schools in Uasin Gishu County, Kenya

Despite the government effort of subsidizing Education, children from humble backgrounds fail to enroll in public secondary schools. Therefore, study sought find out influence subsidy on student enrollment rates Uasin Gishu County. The specific objectives were: assess This was anchored human capital theory by Schlutz 1961. A descriptive survey research design employed describe characteristics respondents. conducted selected schools target population derived 192 targeted principals, 2384 teachers and 6 QASO Officers. sample size for principals class using Yamane formula. used questionnaire collect quantitative data unstructured interview guide qualitative data. Data were analyzed both inferential statistics. Regression analyses utilized It found that significantly influenced enrolment scores predicted enrolment. one-way ANOVA test also revealed there a statistically significant difference between timely disbursement study, therefore, concluded even though has positive several schools, exist gaps impede full implementation free education. recommended is need effectively ensure basic education accessible all students fully providing necessities elimination extra levies.
